What to wear for Archery Remember - Archery is mostly an outdoor sport Always dress according to the weather - no shorts in winter etc. Never wear loose baggy clothing. Try to keep your arms and legs covered. Always wear thin layers - several thin layers are warmer than one thick layer, you can also take a layer off if it is too warm. Wear close fitting clothes but not tight and restrictive. Make sure there are no draw strings hanging loose from your clothes Make sure there are no pockets on the chest of your shirts or jackets. Take off all badges or brooches. Remove all facial piercing. Do not wear large or dangly earrings. Remove bracelets and necklaces. Wear your glasses if you need them for seeing distance. Bring a waterproof if it is likely to rain. BRING SUNBLOCK - you can get sunburnt at all times of year. Other useful information Bring a hot drink if it is cold and a cold drink if it is hot. Wear a hat if it is very cold or very hot. Bring something to sit on. Some of the Rules: Never Shoot unless you have heard the command - One WhistleAlways stand on the shooting line before putting an arrow in the bow Always point arrows and the bow at the target Never Aim up or above the target - always shoot straight at the target. Never attempt to shoot a bow without an arrow in it - dry shooting Always stay behind the shooting line unless told it is safe - 2 Whistles to collect arrows If you hear FAST then you must not shoot any arrows. Remove arrows from the bow - This is a command to STOP SHOOTING immediately. If you are not shooting stand behind the waiting line Do not talk to anyone on the shooting line and if you talk to others behind the waiting line, do so quietly. Archery is a quiet sport so please leave all radios at home and TURN YOUR MOBILE OFF! Any breakages MUST BE PAID FOR. Remember archery equipment is expensive. Do not run on an archery range If you want to look at another Archer's equipment - ask them and DO NOT TOUCH until you are told you can! Collection of Arrows Always walk to one side of your target as it is easier to see dropped arrows and arrows in the target Always look behind you before pulling an arrow out of the target Never leave any arrows on a range after shooting is finished. |
